Seven Seas Navigator at the Super Bowl

The Radisson Seven Seas Navigator, which sails from Norfolk and New York to Bermuda, is one of 5 cruise ships docked in Jacksonville to provide lodging for people attending the Super Bowl. (For our international readers -- the Super Bowl is the championship game of the American football season). Because of the shortage of hotel rooms — Jacksonville is the smallest city to host a Super Bowl — five cruise ships on the St. Johns River are serving as floating hotels for NFL corporate guests. The lack of luxury hotel rooms was the greatest obstacle the city faced when it presented its bid to host the Super Bowl. The city was able to convince a first-skeptical NFL with its cruise ship proposal, which added the equivalent of 3,667 floating hotel rooms, housing about 6,400.
